Water Quality Reports
The City of Richmond serves drinking water that meet or exceeds all Federal (EPA) drinking water requirements.
The EPA requires us to “mail or otherwise directly deliver” one annual water quality report to our consumers by July 1st of each year. These reports are based on calendar-year data for the previous year.
This report is a summary of the quality of the water we provide our customers. The analysis was made by using the data from the most recent EPA required tests and is presented in the reports below. We hope this information helps you become more knowledgeable about what is in your drinking water. Printed copies of the Water Quality Report can be requested from the Public Works Department at 281-342-0559.
The City Main System includes MUD 187, MUD 207, MUD 215, and Williams Ranch MUD 1 and Riverpark West System Mud 121.

Water Hardness
What is hard water?
Hard water describes water containing dissolved “hardness” minerals above 1 Grains Per Gallon (GPG). Dissolved calcium and magnesium are most often responsible for hard water.
How is water hardness measured?
Most water hardness testers measure or report hard water in grains per gallon, but some laboratories use milligrams per liter, or parts per million.
The City of Richmond water hardness is 9.76 grains per gallon or 167 mg/l. This would classify our water as hard.

Please be wary and assured that:
- The City of Richmond does not endorse any private water treatment devices.
- The City of Richmond’s municipal water supply meets or exceeds all Drinking Water standards issued by the US EPA and the State of Texas.
