Municipal Court is closed on weekends and major holidays.

 


Jurisdiction:

City of Richmond has general jurisdiction over all misdemeanor offense committed within the city limits and as allowed by law within territorial jurisdiction of the City of Richmond that are punishable by fine only.

A telephone call does not constitute an appearance and will not prevent issuance of a warrant.

Clerks are not  licensed attorneys and cannot provide legal advice.

The Municipal Court has jurisdiction over Class C misdemeanors issued by the city police officers, code enforcement, animal control officers. The clerks’ office is only responsible for processing clerical work of the court, setting dockets, collecting fines and fees, maintaining records and performing administrative duties delegated by the judge.
