Fire Chief Mike Legoudes, Jr.
Fire Chief Mike Legoudes, Jr. is a second-generation Firefighter with over 30 years of Texas Fire Service experience. A native of the Houston region, Chief Legoudes was appointed the 10th Fire Chief of the Richmond Fire Department on October 6, 2025. He began his professional career with the City of Conroe Fire Department in July of 2001. There he rose through the ranks holding the positions of Firefighter/Paramedic, Lieutenant, Deputy Fire Marshal, Battalion Chief, Deputy Chief, Fire Marshal, and Assistant Fire Chief/Assistant Emergency Management Coordinator. He also served as Interim Fire Chief/Emergency Management Coordinator from July 2024 to January 2025.
Chief Legoudes holds State of Texas certifications as a Master Firefighter, Master Arson Investigator, Master Fire Inspector, Fire Service Instructor II, Fire Officer IV, Driver/Operator, Plans Examiner, Incident Safety Officer, Fire Marshal, Head of Department Suppression, Master Peace Officer, and Licensed Paramedic.
Education-wise, Chief Legoudes is a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master's Degree in Public Administration. He also holds an Associate's Degree in Fire Science Technology from Lone Star College and is a graduate of the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer (EFO) program, the Texas Fire Chief's Academy, and the Emergency Management Institute's National Emergency Management Academy.

"I couldn't be happier to have the opportunity to serve as the City of Richmond's 10th Fire Chief. It is truly an honor to lead this incredible team of highly competent and dedicated professionals. I am committed to using my training, education, and practical experience toward tackling the challenges we face as a growing department and city. My priorities include simplifying internal processes, fiduciary responsibility, retention and recruiting, processes that encourage responsible development and the generation of wealth, robust fire prevention efforts, community partnerships, and ensuring our Firefighters stay safe and have what they need in order to deliver elite services to the citizens and visitors of our city. In addition to my administrative duties, I also enjoy staying connected to the operational side of things. You will often find me responding with our crews to all manner of calls for service.
