Thank you for visiting the Richmond Fire Department's website.  In these pages you will find a multitude of information that is intended to promote transparency, inform, and educate.  It is a work in progress.  Be sure to check back over the coming weeks for updates and new content!

39 professional firefighters and 1 civilian employee staff the Richmond Fire Department.  The Department offers service from 3 strategically located fire stations covering approximately 5.1 square miles within the City of Richmond and many contracted areas throughout Richmond's ETJ and other unincorporated areas of Fort Bend County.  Our total service area encompasses approximately 60 square miles.

The Department heavily emphasizes fire prevention through educational programs, facility inspections, fire and arson investigation, and plan review for new construction.  When fires do occur, however, we are prepared to respond with modern equipment and a highly trained, motivated, and dedicated group of professional firefighters.

A fire is only one of the emergencies for which we are prepared.  Other examples of emergencies to which we respond include EMS, rescue, hazardous materials, and natural disasters.  In addition, Richmond firefighters are trained to stabilize patients until paramedics arrive with an ambulance, usually being the first to arrive on the scene of medical emergencies.

When not responding to emergencies, our firefighters are dedicated to training and community engagement, always finding time to improve our skills and participate in a wide variety of community events such as parades, local school functions, and fire safety education opportunities.
