Richmond City Commission voted to publish the maximum tax rate at $0.62000 per $100 property valuation for consideration for the City’s 2026- 27 fiscal year tax rate, which is a 0.01 cent reduction from 2026 tax rate of 0.63000. This does not mean the fiscal year 2027 tax rate is set but is one step in the process of setting the tax rate during the budget process. The city has lowered the tax rate 17 times over the last 17 years, between fiscal years 2009 to 2026, while maintaining the high level of services that Richmond residents expect. Property tax is the most stable funding source in the city, as it ensures recurring funding is available to meet Richmond’s first-class service level commitments which will not be compromised.
Richmond’s Commission remains dedicated to lowering property taxes in a fiscally responsible manner. The City is committed to providing property tax relief through Tax Enhancements, while also identifying and allocating additional funds to revitalize aging infrastructure, ensuring a vibrant and beautiful City for future generations.
Two upcoming public meetings are scheduled: the first on September 8th for the 2026-27 Budget hearing, and the second on September 21st for the public hearing on the Tax Rate.
