The City of Richmond launched its new Live on the Brazos Summer Concert Series on Thursday, June 25th with an energetic performance by The Grooves at the beautiful Wessendorff Park. The inaugural event was a great success, drawing a strong crowd of residents, families, and visitors who enjoyed an evening of live music, local food, and community connection along the Brazos River.
A City official opened the night with a warm welcome before The Grooves took the stage. Known as one of Texas’ top party bands, the group delivered a lively mix of Motown, classic rock, Top 40, funk, and today’s hits. Their dynamic performance kept the audience dancing, singing, and enjoying the perfect summer weather.
Guests filled the park with lawn chairs and blankets, creating a relaxed, festival-style atmosphere. Offerings from several favorite, local restaurants and some Food trucks added to the experience, giving attendees a taste of Richmond’s growing culinary scene.
A pair of sibling puppies available for adoption also made a special appearance and quickly became a hit with children and adults alike, adding a fun and unexpected highlight to the evening.
The City of Richmond will continue the Live on the Brazos series with two additional concerts this summer:
· Thursday, July 16 – The Emotions
· Thursday, August 6 – Southern County Line
· 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
· Wessendorff Park Gazebo
· All concerts are free and open to the public.
