(Richmond, Texas)- Richmond City Commission adopted the 2024 International Fire Code to ensure the City remains aligned with current nationally recognized standards, incorporating updated provisions that address emerging technologies, modern construction practices, energy storage systems and evolving fire risks. Adoption of the 2024 IFC will promote consistency with regional and state practices, improve code enforceability, and provide clearer guidance for developers, contractors, and design professionals. Fire Codes are updated nationally every three years.
The 2024 International Fire Code is adopted with local amendments to clarify administrative processes, align enforcement provisions with City operations and address local conditions without reducing the level of safety provided by the base code. This adoption strengthens the City’s fire prevention program, enhances firefighter safety, and demonstrates a continued commitment to protecting the health, safety and welfare of the Richmond community.
