(Richmond, Texas)- The Richmond City Commission has taken decisive action in support of residents and long-term city planning by approving the continuation of 2025 property tax exemptions for the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget. Based on staff recommendations, the exemptions will remain unchanged: the Over-65 Exemption will be $6,000 and the Homestead Exemption will remain at 3.5% with a $5,000 minimum.
As Richmond continues to be recognized as one of the top cities to retire to, the homestead exemption stands out as a strong incentive for retirees considering a move to the area. Mayor Becky Haas said, “We are proud to provide meaningful tax relief to our residents, especially our seniors. These exemptions reflect our commitment to maintaining Richmond as an attractive, livable community.”
The City of Richmond Commission meetings are held the third Monday of the month with Special Commission Meetings scheduled as needed to advance the adoption of individual components of the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget.
