Richmond Evaluating an RV Park Zoning District
Richmond City Commission heard a presentation at the Commission meeting on a text amendment to the Unified Development Code (UDC) to establish a Recreational Vehicle (RV) Park Zoning District. The City’s Planning & Zoning commission had spent the last several months, after Hurricane Harvey, discussing and working with the City’s Planning Department on language for this text amendment, which would allow for an RV Park zoning district more suitable for residential uses.
Under the City’s current zoning regulations, the use of RVs in an RV Park is permitted with limited uses since it is designated as an Industrial zoning district which is not necessarily conducive to residential uses. Creating an RV Park zoning district which is compatible with residential uses allows the City to address future growth opportunities as Richmond expands its’ City Limits over the next 20 to 25 years.
