The City of Richmond’s Share The Warmth Community Program Begins
Fort Bend County Fair reminds us we are deep into Fall., and Winter is right behind. Because some in our community don’t have the necessities to battle the winter temperatures, the City of Richmond is launching the Annual Share The Warmth program across the month of October, beginning the week of October 2nd through October 31st, with distribution of items in November, before temperatures drop.
Share The Warmth- a community wide program for the City of Richmond - began in 2015 to give neighbors the opportunity to help neighbors in need, by donating blankets, warm socks and coats at various City locations. This year, the City is setting up drop locations at City Hall, 402 Morton St; City Hall Annex, 600 Morton St.; Central Fire Station, 200 Houston St., as well as Police Department at 600 Preston St. Donations will be accepted Monday- Friday, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm at City locations.
As well, this year, citizens can donate at First Baptist Church of Richmond, 502 South 5th Street ; Calvary Episcopal Church of Richmond, 806 Thompsons Rd; and St. Johns United Methodist Church, 400 Jackson St.
The City is working with area churches and service organizations to determine who is most in need of these items. If you know an elderly or disabled individual in the Richmond community, please contact us Richmond City Hall 281-342-5456.
