Saturday Update

Post Date:06/04/2016 3:00 PM

Good Afternoon again Richmond,

We have noticed that some people are able to get back to their homes which took on water.  We would like to remind you of some serious safety issues:

Please do not place generators inside your residence;

Please do not try to reconnect your own electricity until it is checked;

Do not burn trash or have open flames near your residence;

Stay out of the water if at all possible;

Be careful of debris/sharp objects which may be underwater and could create a hazard;

Watch for chemicals which could be in the water and create a hazard;

Use common sense.

 Our Citizen Recovery Center will be closing today at 5:00 PM.  We will re-open on Monday at 10:00 AM.The Emergency Operations Center will remain open and may be reached at 281-342-0559.

 We would like to once again remind you that several victims will not be able to return to their homes for a few days.  We are still at a major flood level which presents a dangerous situation.  We will continue to monitor the situation and let our residents know when it is safe to return.  We understand you want to evaluate the damage to your homes.  We are working hard to help you through this process.  Please continue to be patient and stay strong.

The attached photos in this post were taken just a few minutes ago showing you we still have flooded areas where victims are still unable to return to the houses.  These photos are of the Greenwood and Newlin area.  Please keep all of our victims in your thoughts as we continue to monitor this event.
