Saturday Afternoon Update:

Post Date:06/04/2016 9:00 AM

Good Afternoon Richmond,

It is at times like these when Fort Bend County residents show their true character.  As I am writing this update, there are fourteen BBQ cook-off teams who have gathered to help prepare food for everyone involved with the flood.  This includes victims and workers.  These teams have gone as far as to have shirts made just for this event.  They have fed over 800 individuals in Richmond alone.  Seven of the teams gathered at the old Richmond Fire Department and the Citizen’s Recovery Center in Richmond while the other seven are working at the KC Hall in Rosenberg.  What a great show of support in response to this disaster.

Even though we are still above a major flood level, the spirits of our victims are high as they can see a light at the end of the tunnel.  We are continuing to monitor the level of the river which is declining more and more every hour.  Keep in mind, we are still above major flood level and still 2 to 3 feet over the previous record of 50.03.  Please remain cautious and stay out of the water if at all possible.  The Richmond Emergency Operations Center is still active and can be reached at 281-342-0559 should you have concerns.
