Friday Evening Update
Good Evening Richmond,
We are basically in wait and see mode. As the flood waters move down the river we need to keep cities along the river in our thoughts as we now know what they could face. We are staying steady around 54 feet with a very slow decrease. I am hoping to see the 53 feet level when we come back tomorrow. There is rain in the forecast which could cause a delay in the river lowering. Please don’t let your guard down just yet.
For those of you who have expressed concerns for our animal friends, I want you to know that displaced pets and livestock continue to be cared for by the SPCA, Texas Animal Health Commission, and Texas A&M University Veterinarian Team.
We will update information about the Citizen Recovery Center tomorrow morning. We have had several individuals working out there today to take care of our citizens. A big thank you goes out to the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, City of Richmond Employees, and everyone, including some of our victims, who have volunteered to make life a little easier during this terrible situation. Notice the smiles on their faces. A simple smile can go a long way in times like these. We will continue monitoring the situation for you throughout the night and will return tomorrow to give you updates throughout the weekend. If you have concerns please call the Emergency Operations Center at 281-342-0559. Goodnight Richmond.
