JOB SUMMARY: The GIS Technician will assist the Planning Department and other departments in maintaining the City's Geographic Information System (GIS) database, including the production of maps, displays, and exhibits for any City-wide need, including staff meetings, Commission meetings, public hearings, and internal work.
Utilize ESRI ArcGIS software; update GIS layers in ESRI; prepare maps using GIS software; handle GIS inquiries from various vendors, consulting engineering firms, and any other external entity; participate in technical support for various GIS end-user applications; and contribute to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned. Have an ability and knowledge of GIS software, ESRI ArcGIS, Internet software, and Microsoft Office.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required. Requires an Associate’s degree in Geographic Information Science, Geography, Computer Science, Management of Information Science or a closely related field. Two (2) years of experience related to ESRI software. Experience equivalent to a GIS Technician may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. A valid Texas Class C Driver’s License.
Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
