Fire Inspector / Investigator

Job Summary: The Inspector / Investigator position requires someone that possesses excellent verbal and written communications skills.  Excellent interpersonal skills are needed to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner, including difficult and irate persons.  Must work well with fellow employees.  Conducts fire investigations, criminal investigations, fire and life safety inspections, and educational programs on related safety.  The Inspector / Investigator will also conduct building inspections and other inspections necessary to maintain the public's general health, safety, and welfare, assist the Fire Marshal with plan reviews for code compliance. This position is subject to be “On-Call”.

Pay Scale: Based on Certifications and Qualifications.

Position: Non-Exempt

Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm

Qualifications:

     Required

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License

      Preferred  

  • Basic Fire Inspector (Texas Commission on Fire Protection)
  • Basic Fire Investigator (Texas Commission on Fire Protection)
  • Basic Peace Officer (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement)

The Fire Chief may consider an Equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Qualified applicants may complete a City Richmond Fire Department Employment Application.  Application may be obtained at Richmond City Hall, 402 Morton St. Richmond, TX or by downloading from city website www.richmondtx.gov. Completed applications  may be submitted the Human Resources Department at City Hall.
